Artist bio
Love? said the Commander is a duo from the “PhilaJersey” area that embraces "maximal minimalism" in order to create slow burning indie-folk that'll make ya feel stuff. Kate Hall (vocals, guitar, violin) met Chris Bishop (guitar) in the winter of 2018 via a Craigslist ad. Since then, they've released five EPs. Their fourth, 'Bones,' was recorded live in one day with one microphone at the Wayne County Court House in Honesdale, PA. The process of recording 'Bones' inspired the duo to explore more live recordings, which resulted in their latest release, 'In the Kitchen.' Its six songs were recorded live (with no overdubs) in Kate’s kitchen over the course of one humid September day. Each track features the ambient noises of a suburban Jersey neighborhood, including cars, planes, birds, bugs, and people. All of the outside sounds happened exactly when they appear and were not added later. ‘In the Kitchen’ is meant to capture the duo’s live sound and make listeners feel like they were in the kitchen with them on that toasty late-summer day. In the end, Love? said the Commander hopes to prove that Pennsylvania and New Jersey can actually come together and create something beautiful.
